Mike Allsop Everest Climber

Mike Allsop, who is an Air New Zealand pilot, visited our school to talk about his climb to the top of Mt Everest.
It cost him $50,000 for his share of the costs. He gave us the link to his photo gallery.
Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra Brass
May 31st
Today the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra Brass Section came to visit us.
Each person told us all about their instrument and showed us different ways of playing their instrument.
One of our favourite parts was when we found out how long each instrument was. The tuba was the longest!
Catherine Latu Visit
May 28th
Last week Catherine Latu from the Northern Mystics netball team came to do a special training for our three senior netball teams. The Matipo Rubies, Mystics and Ferns enjoyed a range of netball based activities that worked on their pivoting, passing and running skills.
Te Atatu Intermediate Kapahaka Visit
May 12th
The Te Atatu Intermediate kapahaka group came to our school to give us a fantastic performance. It was great to see many ex-Matipo Children amongst the group.
Dylan Elise Visit
May 11th
On Monday Dylan Elise returned to our school for his drumming show. He showcased once again his many drumming skills and made the children and teachers join in too!
League Skills Day
Aug 17th
On Thursday Mr Siaki arranged a League Skills Day for the Senior School.
We were lucky enough to have Thomas and Patrick Ah Van from the Vodafone Warriors and 3 Rutherford College students come in to assist. We learnt various league skills over 4 stations and then our session was concluded with a Skills Relay. The kids had a fabulous time!
In the afternoon the School League Team had a special training session with Thomas. The boys loved this!
Bike West
Aug 17th
Dave Powell from Bike West came in this week to talk to the Senior School about Bike Safety. He talked to us about our Helmets to check they are Standards Approved and that we were wearing them correctly. We all took a turn trying on a helmet correctly. He also took us through a bike check to ensure our bike were up to standards too.
We look forward to our next session with Dave when we will be outside the classroom on bikes!


Iron Brion
Jun 18th
On Wednesday the Iron Brion Show came to our School. Iron Brion discussed different parts of the Food Pyramid and the importance of a Balanced Diet. There was also a “Dance Off†at the end. Iron Brion picked the best Boy and Girl Dancer. There were also prizes given out.
At the end of the Show each child received a Hamburger. Everybody loved them!

Rugby Skills

On Thursday The Pro Sport Development team from the Auckland Rugby Union came and taught the Middle and Senior School children various Rugby Skills.
