NZI Canterbury Earthquake Memorial

Earlier in the year the school and NZI Insurance planted a memorial tree to honour the memory of those who died in the Canterbury earthquake.

Hobbiton

After man attempts and with the help of Mr Pilkington, we finally got our Hobbiton house completed.

Great New Zealanders

The school has a series of markers around the grounds acknowledging outstanding New Zealanders – Sir Edmund Hillary, Bruce McLaren, Colin McCahon, Dame Whina Cooper, Charles Upham VC,  and others.

Salsa Workshop

Heidi Hughes from the Jambalaya Festival arranged a Salsa dance workshop from a world champion Columbian dance couple. The children really loved this show – well the girls more than the boys!

Christmas Collection

Every year for the last 10 years the school has collected food items for Carelink Trust to provide Christmas food hampers for local families.

Science in a Van

The middle and senior school really enjoyed a science show from the team at Science in a Van, using liquid nitrogen. This was provided free by the school.

Royal NZ Ballet Visit

This week a member of the Royal NZ Ballet company visited the school to take a workshop for those children who are going to the Aotea Centre to see a production of “Sleeping Beauty”.

Paula Rebstock Visit

Paula Rebstock, the former Commerce Commissioner, visited the school this week to talk about leadership issues and as part of the State Services Commission review of the Education Review Office.
