Out of Zone Enrolments
Out of Zone students have no automatic right of entry. This includes siblings of students already attending the school.
Priority will be given to:
First Priority – This priority category is not applicable at this school because the school does not run a special programme approved by the Secretary.
Second Priority – Will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.
Third Priority – Will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.
Forth Priority – Will be given to applicants who are children of Board employees.
Fifth Priority – Will be given to all other applicants who reside outside of the zone.
If there are more applicants in the priority groups than there are places available, selection within the priority group will be by ballot conducted in accordance with instructions by the Secretary under Section 11G(1) on the Education Act 1989. Parents will be informed of the date of any ballot by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school.
Applications for a place at Matipo Primary School must be made officially by visiting Reception at the School or phoning the school office – (09) 834-6909.
Successful applicants will be advised by mail or telephone (dependent on the time-frame) and asked to complete a pre-enrolment pack.
Unsuccessful applicants will be advised by mail.

Applications for In Zone places can only be accepted once the child is living in the school zone with their parent(s) or legal guardian.

Out of Zone Requirements
The ballot is a random sort and conducted under police supervision.
Each year the Board of Trustees will determine the number of places which are likely to be available in the following year for the enrolment of students who live outside the School zone. Places will be offered to applicants according to their priority group, and then according to their position on the waiting list generated by the ballot. Priority groups are prescribed by legislation and set out in our Enrolment Scheme.
Applications for the Out of Zone ballot will close on a date specified by the Ministry of Education each year, usually early September.
