I have come back and forth to Matipo over the years since 2005, and taken Reading Recovery, New Entrant, and Y1-Y2 classes. I have had a variety of roles since taking a permanent teaching position mid-2012. I have stood in as Syndicate Leader for the Junior school (2013) before taking the role as SENCo alongside Mr Bainbridge (2014) and release teacher for senior management. It is delightful to be back in my own classroom with the Tamariki Syndicate.
As an adult student I graduated in 1998 from Auckland University and Teachers Training College with a BEd. I also have interests in teaching second language learners and have a 2year certificate in TESSOL. I have been employed at a number of central Auckland schools teaching Y0-Y4, before moving to Wanaka on the South Island, in 2008.
I was born in South Africa, leaving in 1982 to live and travel on a sailboat for 10 years. I settled in New Zealand in 1993 and now as of 2013 can proudly call myself a Kiwi. I love travelling to countries where I am able to spend long periods of time living with the locals. I live in Henderson with my 13 year old foxy called Jesse. I am a mother of 3 adult children. I have an adopted daughter who has given me my first grandchild. My interests in these later years of life besides travelling are golf, social cycling, wine convivium member and social lawn bowls.
