Spotlight on Staff – Rahel Kissun

Kia ora, hello and Namaste,

My name is Rahel Ranu Kissun and I teach in Room 12 at Matipo Primary School.

A little bit about myself; I was born in Lautoka, Fiji Islands. After studying up to year four at Drasa Avenue School in Lautoka, I migrated to New Zealand with my parents in early 2002.

I attended Rangitoto College before I went on to complete my degree in English/Media Studies from Auckland University of Technology. I also obtained my postgraduate diploma in Human Resources/ Management from Massey University in Auckland.

During my university study, I worked part-time as a teacher-aid and there I realised my passion lay in teaching and being around children.

I went on to complete my Post Graduate in Primary School Teaching at Massey University last year.

My first year (so far) at Matipo Primary has been exciting and enjoyable at the same time. Working with a great bunch of leaders, teachers and students, I am looking forward to more exciting years to come.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, baking, spending time with my friends, family, and going to the gym.
