Newsletter #23 August 3rd

One of our more recent ex-pupils, Jonah Palota-Kopa, played for the Under 16 NZ Rugby League team a couple of weeks ago. Mr Pilkington was his school coach at Matipo. Congratulations Jonah! We are all very proud of you!

A reminder that next Wednesday 9th August is Parent Interviews between 2pm – 8pm. Children who cannot be picked up at 2pm may wait in the school library supervised until 3pm. Children are also quite welcome to be a part of the interview. Appointments are also available to be made with myself. Please contact the office to make a time.

Mid-Year Reports and Parent Interviews – Wednesday 9th August
Reports will be emailed home tomorrow, Friday 4th August for those required. If you haven’t updated your email address, please let the office know as soon as possible. If you don’t receive the report, please check your junk file.
Parent Interviews are being held next Wednesday 9th August between 2pm – 5pm, and 6pm – 8pm. Children may participate in the interview. Interviews with Ms Day (Room 5) and Mrs van de Ven (Room 21) will be ‘Meet the Teacher’ in nature. Parents may also make appointments to see Mr Bainbridge between 2pm – 8pm. Return slips for Parent Interviews went home last week. You may contact the office to book an interview if you haven’t already. Please note that school finishes at 2pm on this day, although children who can’t be picked up at this time may wait in the library supervised until 3.00pm.

Individual Photos
Order envelopes for individual photos were sent home today. Photos will be taken on Friday 1st September. Please return the envelopes sealed with the payment inside to the office by Wednesday 30th August. Sibling photo envelopes can be collected from the office. You may pay for more than one student’s photograph with the same payment, but each student must have their own envelope completed. Please enclose the correct payment as no change can be given.

Congratulations
Congratulations to Grace Jarvie-Otufangavalu on being the first recipient of a Matipo Values Achievement Medal. Well done!

Clothing
Our wet, cold winter continues. Please ensure all children are dressed warmly, with footwear and rain gear to cope with the conditions.

Sponsorship Grants
ASB – If you or anyone you know anywhere in New Zealand gets a mortgage with the ASB and mentions our school name, the school receives a $500 donation.

Harvey’s – If you list a property through John Vujnovich of Harvey’s Te Atatu, the school receives a $500 donation on a successful sale.

ANZ – If you take out a mortgage with ANZ and nominate our school, they will donate the school the equivalent of $450 in points.

Assembly
Tomorrow’s assembly is at 2.15 pm in the hall for the Taonga and Mana Syndicates, and will be hosted by Room 15.

Food Bank
We are a collection point for food bank donations. Thank you for your continuing support. Any non-perishable donation is acceptable but pasta, rice, pasta sauce, canned meat or fish, and canned soups are really useful.
