Newsletter #13 May 11th

Several rumours are being spread about my absence from school – I’ve been suspended, fired, walked out. These rumours are from a very small group of people who are incorrect. Pretty much for the last week or more I’ve been 12 hours a day at North Shore Hospital with my wife who is quite ill and has been in the HDU unit. I will continue to be on leave for the remainder of this week at the least, but continue to keep up to date with school news.

Happy Birthday This Week To
Stella Anderson, Lucia Dawson, Lucy Ellis, Liam Clarke and Cruz Corrigan.

Term 2 Highlights
Shortly we will be advertising a Snowplanet trip for 55 Year 5 & 6 students. We have a Children’s Market Day coming up and the Quiz Night, both of which are being organised by the very active, Friends of Matipo group. We will have a visit from one of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra groups, and the school speech competition at the end of the term. Our inquiry topic this term is “Being a Historian” and all syndicates are off on various visits around Auckland.

One of our ex-pupils, Alex Burns, is off to the World Hip Hop Championship in Phoenix, Arizona. A fundraising raffle for the trip is advertised on our school Facebook site. Good luck Alex!
