Newsletter #12 May 4th

Welcome back to Term 2. I hope you enjoyed the Easter break and took advantage of the fine, sunny weather we got. As usual in the holidays, a number of maintenance jobs took place. All the air conditioners were serviced, a drain outside Rooms 22 – 25 was replaced under building contract warrantee, the subsidence under the green court was repaired, paid for by the Ministry, and preparation work for the new playground was undertaken.

Warm Welcome To
Cape Bowen, Rosie Gilbert, Nico Bentley, Stanley Zhong, Parerimu Marsden-Witehira, Cooper Thomson, Awa Lofley, Alexander Duggan, Eliza Hurst, Cameron Schofield and Braxton Gillard. We wish you a long and enjoyable time here at Matipo Primary.

School Donation Lucky Prize Draw
Congratulations to the Clews family (Archie of Room 15), who won the school donation lucky prize draw of the Sharp Fridge/Freezer which was hopefully installed during the holidays.

Thanks
Thanks for your tremendous and enthusiastic support of the Easter Bonnet Parade and Easter Hunt. Unfortunately, the weather intervened but the huge number of children who participated enjoyed the events enormously!

Donation
Thank you to the grandparents of Harper Shallard who have kindly donated an old ride on lawnmower as a static item for children to play on.

Congratulations
Congratulations to Miss Anna Choi who is getting married in the weekend and to Miss Lise Ioane who is graduating with a B.Ed degree tomorrow.

Term 2 Assemblies
To keep within our hall capacity of 623 people, we need to split the school assembly into two. The Tamariki and Aroha syndicates will have assembly on the odd weeks, starting in Week 1, and the Taonga and Mana syndicates will have their assemblies on the even weeks. We will announce which assembly will be held in the weekly newsletter.

Assembly
Tomorrow’s assembly is at 2.15 pm in the hall for the Tamariki and Aroha syndicates, and will be hosted by Room19.

Term 2 & 3 Winter Hours
A reminder that in Terms 2 and 3, we permanently shorten the lunch hour by 15 minutes and school finishes at 2.45pm. Children who would normally get picked up at 3pm by their caregiver, can wait in the library under supervision until this time.
